Locker Pi-Lights

Slurpy

Ok, so now that school is back in, Ive got an idea for some killer locker decorations.

So what I want to do, is set up RGB light strips on the top of my locker and have it activated when my locker is opened. Im thinking about using a motion sensor and a Pi Zero W to do this, but idk the specifics.

I will be unable to have a keyboard/mouse/monitor connected to it when im at school, becuz we aren't even allowed to keep our phones on silent in our lockers, but on the weekends i can use my phones hotspot and teamviewer on to make tweaks etc. I have $100 (USD) but would like to make this happen for $60. I prefer amazon btw.

Note: It would have to run on battery for at least a day if I want to bring home a battery bank daily to charge.

I think you just have to dumb it down.

Get a RGB strip with controller already attached, i dont know if you have Paulmann but they have alot of battery powered stuff.

And get either a motion sensor or simple switch to turn it on.

Can you send me a good LED RGB strip for a small confined space such as a locker?
EDIT and a battery

Search Amazon for "RGB led battery" there are so many around i have no idea what would suit yourself.

Try to find one with a real switch so you can hack that and use a contact at your door.

Or just build a small and portable nuclear reactor so you don't have to charge the battery daily. Check with the principal if you are allowed to keep one in your locker, though. You never know, people can be kinda picky with this stuff...

I'm jealous, kinda miss having a locker to decorate. Used to draw logos of TV shows I liked and put them in there. Everyone called me weird for decorating my locker, not even the girls did.

If I was the kid next to me that had the plug in the back of his locker. Could of thrown a rig in there, started folding@home and ran my phones hotspot for connection.
