Weird Minecraft Performance Issue

For whatever reason Minecraft runs much better on my PC using the integrated versus the dedicated graphics. I've tested this anomaly extensively by swapping between the two thru Java in the NVIDIA Control Panel. My laptop sports a i7 6700hq (HD 530 graphics), gtx 960m, and 16g ram. 

 

On a previous system with a GT 720 i got well above 200fps with everything at max. But, that was also running a i7 4790 which is maybe two or three times better than my current CPU.

 

Things I've tested:

• Power settings are set to performance
• 4G ram dedicated through JVM arguments
• Tweaking things like AA, V-Sync through NVIDIA (side note - MC wont display more than 60fps in the debug, even with vsync off. This wasn't the case with the previous system)
• Optifine is installed, tweaked some things on there as well with minor improvements
• CPU monitoring reveals that it is turbo'd to a little over 3 GHz, but hardly being used. Integrated graphics only runs between 50 and 80 percent usage normally. It does NOT AT ALL like any shaders though, and caps pretty easily with those on. Probably a memory or cache limitation.
• GPU monitoring was pretty odd. I consistently get 10-15 FPS, regardless of what the render distance is set to. If shaders are on, its consistently around 5 FPS. 

 

So...I don't know what the issue is. It's all fine as long as I don't use shaders or texture packs, but that is annoying to say the least. Plus whats the point of having a decent GPU if you cant use it?

Are running the game while connected to a charger? You will not see nearly the same performance while on the battery than you would with charging.

Yes, I am. You are correct in that it runs much worse on battery.

Try uninstalling GeForce Experience if you have it installed. This will not remove your graphics driver while lessening the restrictions that NVidia software puts on your computer while gaming on battery.

Interesting. I'll give that a go - It's a pretty crap piece of software anyway in my opinion.

Wow, I actually can't believe that worked. Uninstalled GeForce Experience, went back into the Control Panel to switch java to dedicated GPU, and bam-wam-zam its giving me 60fps at 10% usage.
