slow ssd

coolxm

Hi there,

i have an old computer that i upgraded with a ssd but now a 2 jears later i have problems with slow starting windows.

This ssd has been used for a bit longer than a jear because i had a new computer but now that i want to upgrade it i see it's really slow while in the beginning it started in like 3 seconds. How can this happen?

lots of thanks

Right, but testing in the software will show you Read/Write speeds!

It seems to me like the SSD is performing just like it should.

Try checking startup software!

If that doesn't work, also check boot settings in BIOS :)

When you say your SSD is at "100%" do you mean it's completely full?

Delete any files you don't need and try not to fill it up past 85-95% and it should speed it back up.

-Have you ever cleaned the drive/OS? Use CCleaner to clean up files and fix any registry issues.

-You probably also have a lot more startup services and programs than you did at first, clean house and disable programs you don't want to startup.

-Have you run a scan (like MWbytes) to be sure it's not infected.

-Check the drive health with something like CrystalDiskInfo and make sure you're not running out of viable sectors (2yrs old shouldn't be an issue unless you're doing some crazy constant writing or bought a really crappy drive, but it's worth checking).

-Best option: Ignore everything I said above and re-install Windows from scratch. A fresh copy is a clean slate. If for some reason that doesn't fix it then you know it's a hardware issue.

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Spoiler

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.
