Hi all!

Asking out of curiosity regarding HDD speed boosting.

Im using WD Black HDD, and is wondering if anyone has ever installed anything that can boost the reading speed of the HDD.

For example, what i currently have is "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" though i have no clue how to use it.. lol

Just wondering if anyone has used anything like this and has good experience on it and how to use it.

Intel Rapid Storage Technology is mostly used for setting up motherboard RAID. So it's not really useful.

The only way you can "boost" the performance of the hard drive is to ensure the data is defragmented. But if the data is already in an ideal state, then there's nothing more you can really do.

@M.Yurizaki I see what your saying. How often do you suggest fragmenting the system?

Minor correction, you want to defrag it. Fragmenting is bad :P

As long as you're not shuffling data around all the time, Windows takes care of this for you in the background during periods of idling.

If you test the speed of the hard drive using a program that shows the graph, and you find that "drop-off" point, you can partition the drive so that you always have the fastest part partitioned off, and the slowest part in another partition, so you get more consistency.

The outside of the hard drive is faster, and as you move in towards the center, the speed slowly decreases. No program can take the hard drive beyond its capabilities unless the manufacturer releases a firmware for it that fixes some sort of issue or allows the drive to be more efficient.

@M.YurizakiSounds nice. Thanks!

Btw, another question. As time passes, the computer itself gets slower and slower. Any help with that? Other than reinstalling the whole system and or upgrading to ssd.

Running programs like CCleaner and Windows' own Disk Cleanup should help with that. Also limit the number of programs running in the background, and purchasing an SSD as your boot drive whenever possible will help(significantly).
