Hi, I'm in the market for a couple HDMI cables. i want one for my mother board which will have a 1.4 hdmi port, so im looking for an hdmi 1.4. Wait i also need a Hdmi cable for my graphics card which has a hdmi 2.0 port. I would sure love to save some money and just buy one cable but i dont know anything about hdmi cables. Do Hdmi cables have different versions? and if so can i use a hdmi 2.0 on a 1.4 port temporarily until my graphics card is aquired???

All cables are backwards compatible. On Amazon, just search "HDMI Cable 2.0b" - Should get you some results

I don't know too much about HDMI standads so can't really help there. But there was a watchdog investigation awhile ago that found the pound shop cables are just as good as more expensive ones. I wouldn't spend too much on them.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

what measurements, measure before u buy because the longer the hdmi cable the weaker the signal

This technically only applies to analog. Digital does have a maximum length but if you buy a 2m cable, you will see zero difference between that and a 1m cable

LTT also proved this point on his channel

That's why I said 'HDMI 2.0b'

Yes HDMI has different versions and yes you can use a 2.0 in a 1.4 port and vise versa but it makes no real sense to get a 1.4 cable when the new spec is 2.0.. Amazon basic HDMIs look plain but are fine. Did you know you could get an HDMI that is 3D and internet capable too, well yes you can you will just have to search for those and they are not that much more expensive. You will need to work out your length which would depend on where you want to run your cable.
