Change default program location when installing

Hello,

 

Does anyone know how to change the program location when installing on to Windows 10?  It seems every time I install a program, UAC prompts the question of basically is it okay to install on to my C drive (SSD).  I cannot seem to find the option of changing it to my HDD.  I have tried changing the settings, but it still shows the SSD location path for every program I attempt to install.

Some ask you on install. But I'm not sure how to change the default path.

To change the registry, follow these steps:

1.    Start Registry Editor by entering “Regedit” in the search All programs.

2.    Locate the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

3.    Right click on the value named ProgramFilesDir & change the default value C:\Program Files to the path you want to install all your programs in.

4.    Click OK and Exit.

phew changing the default program and program x86 should theoretically be possible... 

 

A lot of registry changes and in the worst case even some dlls. 

 

But I won't suggest doing that. 

 

Just create a Programs folder on your HDD and if a setup routine starts, run it advanced and not next next next make it so! Then you are able (to 95%) to change the installation path of that program.

I saw these instructions before I went ahead to post on here.  When I download the file from the internet. the file goes onto my HDD (as I changed the settings through Google Chrome), but when I go ahead with the installation, the UAC prompt appears, and while show the program location to my SSD.
