So I'm kinda bamboozled by the current situation that I have, I've seen plenty of people saying that you need to have the creators update in order to install Windows 10 property on a Ryzen build else you get blue screen errors.

My concern is I recently received a windows 10 official license/usb product which has the usb with 64/32bit Windows already in it... but I don't know what version is it. Should I not worry about it and just plug it as it is or plug it into my old working machine and replace it with the newest installer from Microsoft's website and if so is that safe to do?

Thanks for any help folks!

ps. I posted this before in a incorrect category and I couldn't delete it, so I decided to post it here since this is more of an off-topic issue.

Since that USB drive is writable, you may want to just update it.  Just use the media creation tool and use it to download and write the latest version of the Windows 10 installer to the drive.  Not only will you eliminate any concerns but you'll probably spend less time in Windows Update afterwards since most updates will be there already.

So basically format that USB and replace it with the Media creation tool?

And this is silly but nothing bad will happen if I plug it into my current pc right?

I've never used an offical Win10 USB key, maybe it has an Autorun program on it (Does Windows even still autorun things? I don't even know anymore) on it and it'll be all 'HEY!  I'm the Windows 10 installer!  Wanna reboot and install Windows!? :D'  If ti does that you should probably press 'No'. :P

But yeah it's JUST a bootable USB drive, treat it like any other bootable USB drive, and you can format and update it.  I mean, we have to considder the possibility that the key in that box has sat there for two years untouched and you have like 5GB of updates to install with your computer trying to reboot 3 times a day for a week as it puts them all in.

Well what do you know, just tried to format it and apparently it's write protected meaning I can't modify it Nor erase... Guess I will order a new usb then :P

I suggest going with 'FIX2' to simply remove write protection from the key rather than make your PC ignore all write protection.  But that's my view.
