Almost every single day my phone asks me to update its OS and im so afraid that it will eventually just do it without my permition.. and its also really annoying having it ask me to update all the time..

Is there a way to completely disable updates, disable future updates, and stop it from asking me all the time?

Even id i have to root my phone..

If you wonder why i want to do this, well, once my iphone 4s was about 3 years old, there came an update that sank the performance to the ground, and i also remember the performance getting worse and worse for every new ios update. This phone is just over two years old now, and i havent updated it in quite a while, and i dont want to in fear of losing performance and battery life. Im happy with the phone as it is now. I dont want to update until the day i buy a new phone!

The iPhone updates is to make it so slow that it's not usable and force people to buy the new iPhone so they can shower in money, asshole strategy but take a full phone backup try the new update and if that don't work load the backup

Android is not iOS, Google is not a hardware selling company that messes up older phones on purpose so their customers buy the latest new version.

The only way (apart from viruses and runaway processes) an Android phone would slow down is if a completely new version of the OS would need a lot more processing power than the old one.  A minor update on the other hand won't do that.

Samsung isn't known for doing that kind of stuff either.  They roll out security patches for 6 to 12 months (depending on the model) and then just stop supporting that phone model.  They (correctly) assume that most people will either drop the phone in the toilet, break it or wear out the battery within 48 months, causing them to buy a new one anyway.

So you should be fine by installing that update.

If you're really worried, you can always consider an alternative ROM based on the open-source version of Android.  Lineage OS would be the go-to ROM for most Galaxy devices (my S7 and Tab2 are running Lineage), but apparently they don't have anything for the S6.  It's the only phone in the S2-S7 range that isn't covered.  There are other ROMS though.

Alternatively, go to settings -> about device -> software update.  There you can make sure the updates aren't automatically downloaded.
