GPU hitting 86C

Hello, i have rx480 gaming x and its hitting 86C on just one game that i play in 1080p, but when i play other games at 1440p ultra it runs fine. When I launch just that game I can see temperatute taking off from 50 to ~86(87)C and now I don't know what to do becouse it's very loud. What can i do to stop it to taking off with temperatures...

Is your monitor 60Hz? If it is  and your GPU runs that game over 60 fps then just turn vsync on or cap fps to 60. It should fix your temp issue.

That's normal, 86C is not in the danger zone for a gpu (especially a GCN based one). If it gets too loud for your liking you can try undervolting and/or underclocking (be very conservative when touching voltage though) to see if the fans can keep it cool at a lower speed.

 

If your framerates are very high (higher than the monitor's refresh rate) you can limit the maimum framerate, that way the gpu won't be stressed needlessly.

If left to its own devices, practically all GPUs will run as fast as they can until they hit a certain temperature, generally around 85C. So the temperatures you're seeing are fine.

I don't have monitor yet  , TV is 60hz and i played without vsync on

After 86C it got to 89C and I had to turn off game  becouse it sounded like plane taking off, but when i turned off game temperature instantly was 54C...

It's still not particularly alarming. And did you try limiting the framerate?

Yes i did, now if im playing that game i put gpu max temperature to 80C so it goes to 79C and underclocks to 1200mhz and it doesn't make so much noise now
