X370 Taichi Server?

Newegg advertises the Taichi x370 by Asrock to support ECC DDR4. An older thread here has a lot of back and forth about if the ECC DDR4 you drop in there would function as ECC or non-ECC DDR4. That was end of February/start of March. Anyone know if I go and buy a Taichi and say a r5 1600 with some ECC ram if it will be a decent home use server for my terabytes of media? (Ive starting importing my physical media to digital files and would love to access it on all my computers simultaneously. Any sources of why this would or wouldn't work would be appreciated!

So what would everyone recommend for a cheap home server, since 32GB ecc DDR4 seems to be a terrible idea lol?
