Reinstalling HDD question

Go to solution Solved by emtee.skull,

Should be plug and play. And gray fox said point steam to the games on hdd. But drive should show up.

Hello.

My PC has a SSD for the OS and a HDD as a mass storage device. I reinstalled Windows 10 so I removed the HDD which had my personal files and some unimportant programs and games (Steam) on it. Then I deleted everything off my primary SSD and reinstalled Windows. Now I want to connect my HDD again. Do I have to do something before reinstalling the HDD or can I just connect it to the motherboard and everything is fine. Are there problems with the programs I have on the HDD?

Thanks.

Programs will need to be re-installed to update windows registry, and create uninstall paths etc in Windows.

Permissions will be broke, so you will need to force ownership of the files again.

Those are the two obvious things, generally it is not too painful.

Thanks for your help. Everything is fine as long as I can get my data back.
