Nvidia Control Panel missing update option

Go to solution Solved by manikyath,

the main use of geforce experience is driver updates.

aside from that its got some other silly bits like "recommended settings" which i've only seen work out well in like one game, its appareantly now also able to autodetect games and allows you to launch them out of GFE directly, and for the 5 people who bought a shield that' handled trough GFE as well.

as for checking for driver updates without GFE, may be good practisce to just do it along with routine maintenance of your pc, which you should be doing already ;)

I cannot find any discussion on the internet about it. I have GTX1060 with driver 382.53 installed, and I cannot find the Update option anywhere, I read that it should be under Help dropdown menu, but its not!

So am I forced to manually check nvidia website and update drivers? Sorry, last time I had Nvidia card was like 7 years ago (7300LE xd).

I also uninstalled Geforce Experience, because I think its useless. Hope its not really a necessary program?

And one more question, should I keep Allow Experience Improvement Program checked?

Well, that makes no sense to me. I guess I have no choice then, I will install that crap GFE just for the sake of it.

You also get Shadowplay (a godsend to gaming) if you have no idea what it is, check it out ( reqs GFE )

Recording Desktop or Gameplay LIVE without any performance hit to FPS (bar the 1-5% maybe if your at the HIGHEST settings allowable 4K60/125Mbps)

I NEVER once, have used it's recommended settings for games, I've heard the horror stories and am developed enough as a curious cat I'd set them in-game settings myself anyway.

I tell it to bugger off searching for games, removed the folders it looks at, and only use it for Shadowplay/Driver updates.

GFE is legit brilliant, I don't know why people don't like it, It never has given me an issue in the years I've been using it.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
