General use laptop in $1300 range

Hi. I'm looking to purchase a laptop in the $1300 range for general college use. I won't be using it for gaming but I'd like something that will keep me going for as long as possible. I don't know much about mobile specs but I'm assuming I want something Kaby Lake with an SSD. Thanks for any help!

 

Edit: I'm not too worried about aesthetics but the lower the weight the better

You don't need to spend anywhere near that for a general use laptop...unless your not using USD.

For future posts you might want to include a country, as there's something like 20 countries that use the "dollar".

My top picks:

• Asus Zenbook 3.
• Dell XPS 13.
• Samsung Notebook 9 Pro is cool if you ever think you'd want a stylus.

Hahahaha, thanks mate. I converted by own currency to USD as I figured the majority of the users here would be American.

While that might seem useful, it's not. Laptops generally cost more abroad, so when someone suggests something you might see that it actually costs significantly more where you live, or the model simply isn't available. It's always best to say where you live, and perhaps even link some websites you'll be shopping from. Otherwise it's just a lot of potentially wasted time.
