Computer not responding, Creators update issue?

1st off, I'm fairly computer illiterate, sorry if that'll make this process a bit more tedious.

 

Specs are i5-4690k, Asus Z97-E mobo, 16gb ram, CX750M PS, 250gb Samsung 850 EVO, 1TB Seagate HD, PNY GTX-970, Windows 10, pc is just used for gaming and some Twitch and Youtube viewing.

 

PC has been running fine for a few years, but I started having issues after the Creators Update. I got some freezes and some blue screens. 1 game was having lots of issues, so I decided to unistall and reinstall. The Reinstall got to 25% and the pc froze, had to hard reset. After that, it did a brief scan on startup (think it was like diskscan?) and then I logged in. But all I got was my desktop background, no icons, and no response to anything. I tried ctrl+alt+del to pull up task manager, but it would not pull up. I let it set for several minutes, but there was no change.

 

Can't be 100% sure if this is related to the Creators Update, or if it's a huge coincidence. Anyway, where should I start? TIA!

Did you clone windows to your SSD when you installed it? Or did you start with an SSD from the beginning?

Sorry I can't exactly answer that, computer was pre-built. The pc came with a Windows 8.1 disk.

Oh. I'd try reinstalling Windows, and also replace the PSU, just to be safe (The CX seres, aside from the grey label 2017 ones, are not very good at all).

Ok cool. I just wanted to eliminate buying another component if I didn't have to as I'd like to upgrade my GPU (and maybe CPU) before Battlefront 2 comes out.

Doesn't that just make sure it turns on? Or does it actually make sure it's not a risk to other components?

That it turns on, yes. if you wanna see if it's degraded a lot then run the system with and without a dGPU if you have a CPU with an iGPU.
