Hey, what are the studio lights called with the fabric that goes over the lightbulb. looks like a tent on a stick. What is the specific name, as i need one for recording in better light.

A poor man's softbox is just a clean white sheet and a bright white light.  Check out the Strobist http://strobist.blogspot.ca/ for lighting tips and equipment.
