I feel like this would be a common question, I searched google and here and found way too many unrelated questions and nothing near this so sorry if it has been.

I just got a new phone, LG V20, it supports Qualcomms Quick Charge 3.0 and has a type C port, I purchased some micro usb B to type C adapters so I could charge the phone with my old 2A usbA chargers.

My question.

All my usb chargers are normal 5V 2.1A

Scenario A: Quick charge supported usb A plug, with a usb to micro usb cable, and then an adapter to make it type C on the end.

Scenario B: Quick charge supported usb C plug, with a type C to type C cable

Does it make a difference, on one hand its just a different connector, so the power is still unaffected. On other hand, type C cables I have heard can do up to 20V 5A,

If I'm correct the "type C" part is just the connector. If you have a USB 3.whatever that terminates into a Type C on the other end it's still USB. The only difference is it's reversible and looks different. I could be wrong though as I do not own any Type C devices.

That all sounds janky as hell. Why not just drop the $10 on a bunch of new cables.

Not all Type C can handle that, and if you buy off market cables, you can run into serious issues.
