Here is the first part of our mod project.  The initial build went relatively smoothly despite the case being a bit of a pain to work in.

The Thermaltake Core P3 could use some work as far as directions and organization are concerned.  The screws were bundled together in 2 separate bags and pictures and directions in the manual were extremely vague.  Also, the riser cable was faulty, which I've heard is very common.  I had to remove PSU, in order to adjust the bracket for a standard graphics card orientation.  Also, my AIO is only screwed in the right side of the rad because the card is too long to have it mounted were its supposed to be. However, that being said, it is an amazing looking case once it's finished.  I will eventually upgrade the acrylic panel to the tempered glass they offer for the P3.

Obvious choice for the PSU.  JohnnyGuru"s highest rated PSU and overwhelming positive rating wherever I looked.  The cables that come with it are completely black too, which is nice.  No multicolored wires showing anywhere. :)

I decided to go with Asus Maximus IX Code mobo because of plans in the future.  I admit it is overkill and extremely overpriced because I doubt I use all the features or push this board for what its designed.  I'm just going to paint the armor.  That's it. lol

The RAM was a toughy for me.  I wanted an extremely high end build so my initial thoughts were to buy some Corsair Dominator Platinum sticks.  After looking around for a bit though, I found the Team Dark RAM kit.  I look the way it looks, its highly rated, fast, and a lot cheaper then the other option.  I will be painting the "knight armor" as they call it on their webiste.

nVidia GTX 1080Ti.  No explanation needed, right?

Finished build.  Still have a lot of plans for this.

Parts will painted to match Master Chief's armor. (Mobo armor, rad, fan rings -not installed yet, block on the CPU, and RAM)

Wall mounting the case

Custom cable sleeving

Tempered Glass for the case instead of acrylic

Painted acrylic piece to cover PSU

Custom built desk

Upgrade monitor

Order a giant mouse pad to cover the entire top of my desk when finished

Thank you for stopping by. Hope you enjoyed.

  • 3 months later...

Update: it's been a while. A few months actually. Been working constantly. But I finally got my desk done.

I'm not sure what happened to the rest of my pictures but here's what the top wood looks like. It's a slab of laminated pine 6' long 2' deep and 3/4" thick. I took a router bit to the top portion of the wood where my arms will rest. Then I put a layer of a latex sealant on it to prevent any pine sap eventually leaking through. Then painted the top a charcoal grey. 20171020_185727.thumb.jpg.b39ac25e8630e9d732e464d1cdeb29a1.jpg

I ordered a custom desk mat to fit the surface of the desk.

JPEG_20171024_131711.thumb.jpg.c3badc9cf3e73056dfb03ad1d0b31b2b.jpg

Then wall mounted the PC so it's out of the way. Unfortunately it's a little further than what I wanted but that was the closest spot with studs. Need to work on the cable management a bit. I think I can tuck the wires behind the case because the mount sits of the wall about a half inch.

Here's a shot of the room I have for my mouse because of the huge desk mat. No edges to worry about. Free movement.

JPEG_20171102_192629.thumb.jpg.9cc785fa9b93f784953e16ee0404eb6c.jpg

Here's a picture of the entire setup as it sits right now.

JPEG_20171102_192938.thumb.jpg.542b3b97c54520a43691f2c973ae7ee4.jpg

On the left side is a Kenmore mini fridge and an Ikea Alex drawer unit on the right.

Next project is to paint the PC and parts inside.

Thanks Shiv. The fridge is definitely the best part of the desk. Snacks, red bull, beer! Lol Unfortunately, it's gotten colder and I don't have a heated garage or somewhere I can paint the PC. That's the next big project. Ordered a new monitor and it's on the way. I'll be sure to update when it arrives. :)
