Hello,

I'm thinking of upgrading my build.

I'm not a 100% sure about my current setup, but this is an estimation:

Fx 8350 clocked to 4,5 GHz cooled by a Noctua NH-D15

Sabertooth 990 FX R2

16GB 1866 MHz HyperX (4x4)

Rx 470 Strix O4G

Samsung Evo 850 500 GB SSD

Toshiba 3 GB HDD

PSU EVGA 850 W (I think, not entirely sure)

Everything sits in a NZXT 820 Phantom

So I really don't play more than CS:GO, LoL and BF1 at the moment so I don't need something extreme.

My biggest issue is that I'm tired of my huge case because I lack a good spot to place it in my new apartment.

I was thinking of going for a midi or mini tower this time around meaning I need a new cooler for my CPU.

I'm interested in the R5 1600/1600X so any reviews on any of those two along with a recommendation for mobo and compatible RAM is appreciated.

I don't think I need to switch out the GPU or the storage units as I spend most of my time on LoL and it's not really a graphics heavy game.

Regarding the case, it will be placed UNDER the desk so RGB isn't really something I'm motivated to pay extra for and to be honest, I find it rather annoying.

I'd much rather prioritize size, weight and airflow along with what size CPU cooler I can fit.

To clarífy, I will be trying to assemble this project on my own but I'm NOT a professional meaning I won't be interested in attempting to set up a watercooling system.
Air has been my go-to since it's more or less click and screw to install it so I'd like to keep going on that path.

Any tips are duly appreciated.
Thank you in advance,

BiBR

Ryzen 5 1500X for a cheaper option, Ryzen 5 1600 for the best option.

I suggest to go with Asus for their build quality, with a B350 motherboard like the PRO/PRIME serie. There are mATX versions as well if you want to use a tight case, like the BitFenix cheaper serie, which is pretty and compact enough.

Any ram will do the job. If you can, go for a 2X8GB setup instead of a 4X4 which increases performance and even allows for better OC possibilities.

For the cooler, just grab any liquid cooler small-radiator like the Hxx serie from Corsair (H55+) and their AM4 mounting bracket and you're good to go for a great overclock and cooling experience, OR get the Ryzen 1600 AND stick to it's stock cooler which is damn good and it's free.

Keep everything else, I don't see a point in changing them.

im sure you can see how we comprehended that differently.

I do not have the exact clocks on CPU nor the GPU, I do not have the voltages for those clocks. I do not recollect the exact model no for the RAM, HDD nor the PSU. Therefore I define this as an estimation. It's been a while since I tweaked with my rig since it has been running without any other issues than me being tired of the size and speed during boots etc.

well we dont need ur clock speeds to know what you should go for next :P, ryzen 1600x is what you want cos you have a nice cooler.

I know I have to order a fitting kit for the AM4 socket for the cooler from Noctua then, but what cases that aren't full does it actually fit in?
I got my full only because I wanted an easy fit for the D15 and improved airflow but the size has really gotten to me lately as I no longer have a good spot for the rig.

I'm not too familiar with Enthoo Evolv but did a quick search and visually it looks nice.

I want good options and structure for cable management, a glass side is nice but not necessary. regarding ATX/m-ATX/ITX I don't really care that much. I don't have enough knowledge to point out any performance differences between the types of mobo so I'll go for whatever I can find good reviews for alternatively what anyone here recommends.

The only one I found so far that has been getting great reviews from the store I'm buying my parts from is ASUS PRIME X370-PRO - ATX / X370 but I'm not quite sure if the smaller towers are compatible with ATX.

I have been enjoying the Sabretooth UI so any mobo with similar UI is probably interesting but that's really all I can ask for since my knowledge is so limited

well i know the strix and hero boards dont need a mounting kit, cos they have am3+ holes but they are ATX.
