Hi, This is my first post on Linustechtips forums and ive heard from a few friends that this is a reliable forums to help me out on a gaming computer build. Ive been saving up for quite a while as ive got a 1300$ budget. I am planning to purchase all of the parts off Microcenter if possible. I need a monitor, computer (obviously :P) and keyboard for the build. If anyone has the knowledge and is willing to help me out on getting all the specs together please do as im a bit desperate as i almost got scammed 600 dollars off craigslist :( Thanks once again

The best thing to do would be to do some research and some looking around and find out what you need by yourself. That way you're guaranteed to get exactly what you want and you'll be in a better position for the future.

However, I know that a lot of people don't have the time or just can't be bothered, which is fair enough. In which case, my first question would be: What are you going to use your computer for? Gaming, video editing, web browsing, Photoshop or whatever.

First off I welcome you to the forums and enjoy your stay

Since you wanted a monitor and keyboard, your budget for the pc

will only really be 1000 since a decent ips monitor + mechanical keyboard will be ~300 together.

This is just a rough estimate of what tier of parts to buy

3570k

asrock extreme 4

H100i cooler

7950

8gb ram

64gb ssd

1tb hhd

Any -100 ATX case that fits your tastes

Should total just under 1000 depending which brand/any special features you wanted for a part

3770k, Asrock Extreme 4, 16GB Dominator Plat, AX760i, 250GB BX100, 1.5TB Seagate, Win 7 Home Prem

Could probably drop the H100 to a 212 Evo to save a bit for the moment but other than that it's pretty good.

Thanks so far guys, my plan is a gaming computer specifically used for gaming such as Runescape (not demanding) Battle field, World of Tanks and a few other games which do demand a high graphics card or however you would say that :) Also im currently going to look into some research, ive heard the nvidia graphics cards that are 660-670 are great. Any advice on that card?

Nvidia is good but currently AMD performs better due to the new driver optimization and they also have a better bonus game bundle than nvidias random in game credits however that might matter to you seeing as you actually play one of those games. I would recommend AMD for the better performance but if you really want the game credits, get a 660ti

GeForce vs Radeon is really a endless conversation as the fanbois will always flock to side for their favorite. Personally, the way I see it is that NVidia usually wins on the sheer performance side but AMD gets better price per performance. 660ti is the better bang for the buck so to speak on the NVidia side. If you want to go Radeon, probably something along the lines of a 7870 would get you comparable performance.

AMD Ryzen 5900X - Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming WiFi 2 - 32 GB GSkill TridentZ RGB
GeForce RTX 3080 - WD Black SN850 1TB  - Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL

Once you build your first PC you will see there is not that much too it and its always nice to use the computer that "you" build in a geeky way lol. Take your time plan it out and it really is a good idea to read and watch lots of reviews on the products you are considering to see what others experiences are and what is being recommended.

i would say the build itonny suggested sounds great for the money, i would go with the H100 if you can afford it, as the overclocking results you can get with it are superior and well worth it. The best way to find out about how to build your rig, what parts are good and go together is by watching youtube with guys like linustechtips, or techoftomorrow, or razethew0rld, thats how i learnt all this stuff
