PCI E slot solution! Please Help!

Go to solution Solved by thedigitalmilk,

Yea, I had a look at something like that. I was thinking I may use the 16x version of that to move the video card away from the other slot... Thanks a tonne!

yeah that seems like a better option, re-mounting the card to with the connections accessible from the outside of the case will be fun though.

Alright, so I have an Asus Z87M-Plus motherboard in my computer and it only has 4 PCIE slots. In the top slot (Furthest from power supply, closest to processor) I have a Gigabyte GTX 760 OC 2GB video card. Now the problem is, is that this card takes up 2 PCIE slots (One is actually being used, the other is just being blocked by by the card because it is 2 wide) and the slot directly below these 2 is being used by a wireless card.

That leaves me with one slot, right? But I need to install 2 more expansion cards... Upgrading the motherboard is out of the question, and one of those PCIE duplicator things is something like $2000! Does anyone know of a ribbon cable or something that I may be able to attach to the PCIE slot under the video card or any other solutions?

Here is an image if that was too confusing for you. Also before you say, I can't move the video card into the yellow slot since it is too long and the SATA ports get in the way...

Thanks for your help!

Speaking of PCI-E 16x risers are they gen 2 or 3 although it can be stated there is no performance increase but more failure points?

Are you sure that ribbon cable will work? It looks like it would stick out too far causing the video card not to fit anymore.

Actually, never mind. I thought you were using the 4x version of that.
