Some questions first:

  • do you have a stereo/hifi system in your living room?
  • how many sources are plugged in your tv?
  • surround or stereo?

Since your budget isn't really that big suggestions are difficult. If music playback isn't on your mind then try to find a good deal on a soundbar like Yamaha YAS-207. A proper set of active stereo speakers will most likely cost twice as much as you're willing to pay. If you have a stereo/hifi system in your room: plug your tv into your stereo and use those speakers.

I agree with bowrilla. Here are more affordable options, if you're okay with using Toslink (optical) instead of HDMI:

Something like this would be a huge step up from the TV speakers:

The TV or the PS4 can connect to it using this type of cable:

I think the set already comes with one; just check if it's long enough for your setup.

Set the PS4 to output in Dolby Digital and start playing.
