Hello guys, sorry if this question is floating around somewhere but I have a really quick question:

I am planning to upgrade my rig starting my PSU because it's on sale at my local store, According to the eXtreme power supply calculator, they recommend 609~ watts. If I upgrade my PSU to a 750w now, will it not be efficient if my current build is under 600? Sorry if it's confusing, I'll try clearing up anything

Yes more than enough. What you are asking is when someone buys a ax1200i and only need like 250watts them itll probs be ineffienct. 100watts in your case would be fine even if you went to like 800 to 900 watts.

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only a GTX 1080, just a single 1080, where my glorious PC once stood....

For that is all I need, For the Emperor of Man, Jen-Hsun Huang, protects. We march for Nvidia, and we shall know no fear!

So your asking if buying a PSU with more wattage than you have will be inefficient?

Yeah that's what I mean

That's what I was worried about, didn't know if it will throw anything off or wasting more energy than needed

Yeah that's what I mean

Maybe. It depends on how much power you actually need and what psus you're comparing.

Furthermore, psu calculators for the most part are highly inaccurate.

Are they? Then what can I use as a reference?

See what others have measured using kill-a-watts.

Or just other members who just kind of 'know' how much power it uses.
