pcie sata expander

hey guys looking for a cheap pcie sata expander with at least 8 sata ports, no raid or anything like that, just extra sata ports

ok then, i guess thats what ill get then, also can you recomed a lag 1151 cpu for a nas running a few vms?

There aren't any CPUs that us the LGA 1155 socket that are capable of running more than 1 VM at a time.

Four cores can only handle so much. I would wait for Coffee Lake, maybe those new CPUs will work in the older motherboards.

No there won't be any bottlenecks with this because it is PCIe x8 for 8 drives. If the HBA was PCIe x1 or x4 there could be bottlenecks.
