Hello,

I recently began having really (REALLY) bad static problems with my Logitech G430 headset while recording. Due to the very poor experience which I have had with this headset (Had to warranty it three times in two years), I presumed that this one had also reached its last leg and it was time to upgrade. So, I purchased a Sennheiser G4ME ZERO headset. It was a very nice upgrade but I still had a very bad static which did not appear immediately, possibly because audio coincidently hid it in a short shadow play clip. However, later recording revealed the issue. I returned the headset and purchased another one as many people I know have always had high regards for Sennheiser and the quality of their products. Again, sadly, I have the same static sound. In an attempt to determine if it was the headset or something else, I plugged it into another computer which is about five years old. I still had a fair amount of static. However, when I use a 2:1 adapter and plug BOTH the Sennheiser and the G430 headset into my phone and do a voice recording, they sound perfectly fine with no noise at all. Could this mean that the headsets are not the problem but in fact it is another piece of equipment such as my motherboard?

Appreciate any input,

HD

That's your sound on your motherboard. Headsets never get static.

Gotcha.

Sounds like a grounding issue, you could try using a powered USB hub and a USB sound card. Worked for me.

Well the G430s were used via the USB dongle which comes with the headset. I'll try purchasing what you recommend and see if that solved the issue. Thanks!

Well I purchased these two items https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XMD7KPU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IRVQ0F8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but now the microphone is very, very quiet even at 100% volume and it has no boost options. Any clues as to what is causing the problem?
