Hello beautiful Linus Tech Tips Community!

I currently have a PC with GTX 970, and I am interested in adding two 1080 Ti's for 4k gaming. My PSU won't be able to supply enough wattage to my entire build with everything else.

Can I use a second PSU outside my PC ~without any dangers possibly affecting my hardware~ and power thee 1080 Ti's? Thanks

If you can afford two GTX 1080 Ti cards, you can afford a damn power supply. Look for something in the 800-900W range on a high-end platform from a reputable manufacturer (EVGA, Corsair, Seasonic, Super Flower, etc.).

I would personally not risk $1,500 worth of graphics cards on a janky ghetto-fab dual PSU setup.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Um, don't.

Just buy a good 750W PSU for your computer, like the EVGA B2

B3 is better

Why don't get a single PSU
For 2 1080TI, I always recommend tier 1 PSU with Gold or higher efficiency (examples: EVGA G2/G3, Seasonic Focus Plus Gold)
