100mhz worth the voltage

Hey all, I'm considering downclocking 100mhz to 3.9 as 4ghz requires 1.43v

but I can do 3.9 at 1.35

i think my chip will last longer and I do love lower temps

but do you think there will be any significant difference in anything ?

Gaming ?

Im ok with loosing 2 fps but if it's gona be like 5/10 maby not

do any of you run your cpu under its max oc ?

fyi temps are not a issue I never break 60

In my opinion, not worth it.

My 1700 requires 1.325 for 3.8GHz and 1.425 for 3.9GHz, so I just run it at 3.8.

I do run my system under 24/7 load, and the performance is not measurably different, although the power draw is.

You think gaming will be the same ?

In gaming most of the time the GPU should be the limiting factor, not the CPU (with exception of older single threaded games), particularly at 1440p.

If the game you're playing is mega-CPU-limited or heavily single-threaded you'll likely feel something a little off, but most games these days punish your GPU more than the CPU.

If the temps are ok at 4.0, don't lower it fear of chip degradation.  You are not running high enough voltage for it to be a real concern imho.  Worst case scenario would probably be having to lower the clock 100mhz in 7-8 years.
