Dealing with professors who graded you wrongly

Just a tips to anyone reading this thread: DO NOT GO TO THE PRINCIPAL OR DEAN JUST BECAUSE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU DESERVE A HIGHER GRADE!

Ask the teacher what you could have done better, and be humble. One sure way to get your grades go sink even lower is to act full of yourself as if you are better than the teacher (like commending on spelling mistakes).

Remember, you are the student. You are below the teacher in the hierarchy. Better get used to it while you're still in school because that will only get more true once you get a job.

OP Actually responded and apparently did this. It went well for him.

Look, I've been through this personally. You have to understand that when they ask for "your opinion", they don't actually care about your opinion. They want to see whether you've been paying attention in class or not. So, regardless of what your opinion is, you have to make as many references and connections as you can to what you studied. I know it's not clear from the question itself, and I know it's much easier to write what you think about the question than making an effort to remember what has been said in class, but that's what your teacher most likely wants. So while technically you are right, in actual fact the teacher is the one grading your essay and the one you need to satisfy. I liked to be a smartass and ignore this, and thankfully I could afford to do that because my other grades were fine, but if you care about this class you need to suck it up and try to give them what they want.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

*Update on the situation*

I took my friends advice and just really suck it up and start praying for grace. Instead of starting a problem, I emailed her how I can improve. For my final essay, I took my time to write how she would want me to write it, although I tried to be respectful while disagreeing to certain opinions. Glad to say, she graded my final writing with 100% passing grade and I passed the class.

I was going to advise you do just that.  If the teacher graded poorly then they should be able to communicate exactly what you did incorrectly.  Overall though a lot of college involves sucking it up and adopting stances just get a good grade.

People tend to be too opinionated when it comes to political writing, rather than being objective towards what the writing is meant to be about. My guess is that's why you've been 'victimised', which you've interpreted as being because of your gender or the teacher's political stance.

People also tend to be too opinionated when it comes to political leanings and cannot be objective in grading coursework that conflicts with their views. Not all professors are like that, and some subject matter is too unrelated to politics (for example Algebra) that it never rears its head, but that doesn't stop it being a problem overall.

I'm basing this on my own personal experiences which range from "not much of an issue" to "they literally spent the entire class campaigning for someone running for office".
