Hey there guys ;) I made a build and wanted to know what people think about it. My budget was 2300 but that was including the monitor , desk to put my pc on, speakers, chair, keyboard/mice, windows 10 card , and the pc parts / case . Is it future proof meaning it will last atleast 3 years . Also a side note I wanted to go big on the monitor because a monitor is almost as important as the pc itself because it's something I'm going to be looking at over the next few years. I'm going to be using my for gaming on high graphic demanding games and for photoshoo editing /video editing for work.

Let me know what you think down below :)

You can use PCPP, and just use the Amazon prices.

And the PSU is crap. Don't get the NEX

Bad idea to use Amazon only unless you have a large sum of gift card. Not even shipping fees is a good reason because sometimes the price can be so much lower that it is still low after counting in shipping costs.

LGA 1151 is rumoured to die, so AMD's AM4 is the one to go for.

Those not listed is because I know nothing about them. They add up to around $230 though, so I kept my build within $2000

Why Intel I7 when you would benefit from 8 cores, 16 threads. WHY!!! didn't you select a 1700(x).

I7 is better for gaming and Photoshop. Ryzen R7 is better for video editing. OP should pick the cpu that will provide the best experience given the expected workload. IOW, having 8/16 is pointless if most of the time one is only using 2 or 4 cores.

Because of that. There are already several game "fixes" where games become fixed for nice performance for Ryzen.

Also, the OP is trying to get an 1080, no XP, no Xp, no Xppppp or Ti.

I consider your statement invalid for OP his usage/intentions.

So what if some titles are addressing problems with Ryzen. We are discussing general cases since there is insufficient information to be very specific.

Don't see what the gpu has to do with choosing a cpu in this case.

I fail to see how addressing "I'm going to be using my (pc) for gaming on high graphic demanding games and for photoshoo (sic) editing /video editing for work." is "invalid for OP his usage/intentions". You may not like my comments, but they factually addressed gaming, photoshop, and video editing.

1. Intel is rumoured to switch sockets, so you will need to buy a new mobo for further upgrades. On the other hand, AMD's socket will stay till 2020. Therefore, not so good in future-proofing.

2. You mentioned "video editing". That's what makes Ryzen better since it has more cores than i7s of similar price range.

@brob During the launch of Ryzen R7, AMD showed off their product, and being close to equal/equal/better then Intel. That was shown off on 4k resolution, with a high end GPU. When they downscaled the resolution, Intel would be better for games. The CPU had to work harder/could not keep up in games. I am willing to go as far as calling that a fact.

So a Ryzen R7 1800x would be a bottleneck for an 1080Ti on 1080p. Considering topic starter wants to get an 1080, and not an 1080 ti/xp, the "bottleneck" will be smaller. And that was at launch, and there have been many improvements. (not sure how big the difference currently is, but I'm getting to it)

I think AMD is still working on improvements for Ryzen. (think, no facts here but it would be a reasonable thinking patern) Topic starter wants to use his pc for at least 3 year. Not 6 months, 1 year or 2. So lots of improvements can be done. And there are already games being changed, so they would make use of moar coares. That's where Ryzen will catch up in gaming performance. 3 years is "a long time", so in the long run, I will asume that the Ryzen chips will outlast the 7700k in gaming. (not looking at photoshop, don't know much about it)

Another side note: AM4 is +/- new, and AMD told us they will keep developing new stuff for it until at least 2020*. So investments in the platform sounds like good/smart investments. Not sure, but Intel released X299, so how long would Z270 get new good stuff...

*No source, I think it was this year. But I think it was a fact. Chances AMD are going bankrupt between now and then are small since they have been in crappy positions before/are still around.
