I recently had a interview and one of the questions was you are trying to install an iSCSI device on an ESXi server? How would you go about doing that? They invited me for a second interview so I guess I wasn't that bad but also any interview tips?

Be confident in your abilities without being arrogant. Look them square in the eyes while talking, and listening to them. Appear focused, and interested in the job, but not so desperate that they think you'll just tell them anything to get the job. All of these are difficult for me because I'm naturally shy, and a very poor salesman. Best of luck to you. I hate interviewing for a job, it's very stressful. Fingers crossed for your success. 9_9

Best Excuses:

#1(simple) "Well, I never liked that stupid thing anyway!"

#2(complex) "Obviously there was a flaw in the material, probably due to the inadvertent introduction of contaminants during the manufacturing process."

Job interviews suck, always do.

If you don't know a specific answer to a question but you know the basics of it first say you don't know how to do it for that product but give the general technical answer for it. Like for the ESXi/iSCSI question if you know there needs to be an iSCSI target server and an iSCSI initiator on the ESXi server (hardware or software) then say that.

If they're asking then they know the answer, so don't try to pull one out of your butt. If you honestly don't know at all, be honest but redirect it to something you do know such as NFS / SMB or some other similar protocol. Or if you've only ever dealt with a DAS which connects with a SAS SFF cable via an HBA card then talk about that.

While you do want to get the job, if they are asking questions you don't know the answer to it may not be the job for you. Be honest and let them decide if they you are a good fit. My only advice is every answer should demonstrate your knowledge, never simple yes/no/idk answers. If you don't know, then find something related that you do know and talk about that.
