Heya. I got a new TV that has both WiDi and Miracast support but my PC is doesn't have a separate network card nor Wi-Fi so they do not work. From what I understand, the best way is to get a WiFi network card? I've found some with WiDi support but I also read that Intel quit their WiDi support so do I need to focus on Miracast? Product suggestions are welcome, hoping to manage with less than 100€. This one is 50€ in my country, would it work?

Chromecast or Steam Link are not options because I want to mirror main desktop as is to the TV without too much tinkering and the first one lags too much for gaming.

Adding a secondary network to your computer can bring some problems.

If planning, you should go completely wireless then with your machine. Else there will be all kinds of routing trouble, internet connection trouble coming to your PC, as long as you run wifi and cable.

Main System:

Anghammarad : Asrock Taichi x570, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X @4900 MHz. 32 GB DDR4 3600, some NVME SSDs, Gainward Phoenix RTX 3070TI

System 2 "Igluna" AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro, Core I5 3570k @4300, 16 GB Ram DDR3 2133, some SSD, and a 2 TB HDD each, Gainward Phantom 760GTX.

System 3 "Inskah" AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro, Core I5 3570k @4300, 16 GB Ram DDR3 2133, some SSD, and a 2 TB HDD each, Gainward Phantom 760GTX.

On the Road: Acer Aspire 5 Model A515-51G-54FD, Intel Core i5 7200U, 8 GB DDR4 Ram, 120 GB SSD, 1 TB SSD, Intel CPU GFX and Nvidia MX 150, Full HD IPS display

Media System "Vio": Aorus Elite AX V2, Ryzen 7 5700X, 64 GB Ram DDR4 3200 Mushkin, 1 275 GB Crucial MX SSD, 1 tb Crucial MX500 SSD. IBM 5015 Megaraid, 4 Seagate Ironwolf 4TB HDD in raid 5, 4 WD RED 4 tb in another Raid 5, Gainward Phoenix GTX 1060

(Abit Fatal1ty FP9 IN SLI, C2Duo E8400, 6 GB Ram DDR2 800, far too less diskspace, Gainward Phantom 560 GTX broken need fixing)

Nostalgia: Amiga 1200, Tower Build, CPU/FPU/MMU 68EC020, 68030, 68882 @50 Mhz, 10 MByte ram (2 MB Chip, 8 MB Fast), Fast SCSI II, 2 CDRoms, 2 1 GB SCSI II IBM Harddrives, 512 MB Quantum Lightning HDD, self soldered Sync changer to attach VGA displays, WLAN

Actually adding a secondary network connection with a static and no gateway will not cause any issues unless you run into two devices with the same IP. No gateway will force the PC to go to the network that has one and can actually reach the internet.

I don't mind having my PC on the network with cable or wifi, either way works for me. Just looking for help finding a solution that works with connecting PC and TV wirelessly cause I understand nothing about PC parts.

As long as the PC is plugged into the same router that the TV is connected to wirelessly they are on the same network. So  you wont need your PC to be wireless.

Yes I do. TV and PC are in the same home network, I can right click on video files on my computer and directly cast them to the TV. I can see TV under connected devices. I can access PC files directly from the TV. But I cannot mirror my desktop to the TV.

WiDi/Miracast specifically, from what I've googled my parts (found in profile) do support WiDi/Miracast but it's not going to work without a physical wireless transmitter and it doesn't work via router/modem.

Connect menu says "Your PC or mobile device doesn't support Miracast" because there is no physical transmitter on my desktop PC. There are plenty of instructions and devices for turning your TV into WiDi/Miracast compatible but TV is not the problem, it's brand new and has internal Wifi, WiDi and Miracast support.

I'd like to mirror my desktop as a whole, not just video files or steam games. Chromecast is too laggy for gaming and Steam Link only for Steam games. WiDi or Miracast would make it possible without any extra steps, but I need to make my PC (not TV) support it.

Just an update if this somehow happens to help anyone in the future.

Got the ASUS PCE-AC55BT, friend came over and set it up and now as long as desktop has wifi on I can mirror main screen to TV or use it as 3rd screen. Latter seems to work the better, there's some distortion at times and slight lag, not sure what part to blame for that. Overall works well enough for casual gaming.
