[Build Log] Project Azure

I've already started on this build but I figured there was no reason for me not to make a build log. This is one of my first posts on this forum, so I hope I'm doing this right. A year ago I decided I wanted to build a new PC so I’ve been looking at and waiting for parts while I was saving money (I’m only fourteen so my only sources of income were chores, birthdays & Christmas- been saving for the four years previously, so I’d already had a decent amount to begin with as a starting budget). I wanted to use some other components like a Kraken X62 to stick with the case theme but couldn’t fit the extra $50 in the budget, nor the extra for sleeved cables from Cablemod. Maybe additions in the future.

Build Components:

Case: NZXT S340 Elite (Black)

CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K

Mobo: ASRock Z270 Extreme4

RAM: G. Skill TridentZ 16GB (2x8GB) White 3200mhz

Cooler: Corsair H100i v2

PSU: EVGA G2 650W

GPU: EVGA GTX 1070 SC

Storage: Crucial MX300 750GB SSD, WD Blue 1TB HDD

Peripherals:

Monitors: AOC 27” (E2770SHE), AOC 24” (E2429SWHE)

Keyboard: Corsair STRAFE RGB (Cherry MX Browns)

Mouse: Logitech G502 (non-RGB)

Speakers: Logitech Z200 (Black)

Headset: Corsair VOID RGB (Black)

The project evolved as I went on YouTube and found videos from modders like JPModified, SingularityComputers, DesignsByIFR, DeclassifiedSystems, etc. who inspired me to create my own designs and make the build more personalized.

To do this- I already had the free student version of Autodesk Inventor 2017 to mess around with so I began taking images I wanted and sketching off of them, turning them into basic 3D models that I will 3D print for the front of the case. I’m still working on what program to use for the vinyl cutter at a makerspace near me, so if anyone has good vector program suggestions let me know! I’ve also already created a small desk extension/stand to put the PC on, giving me more desk space to put a second 24” monitor off to my left. Pictures are included below of current progress.

If at all possible I also might make a video or two of my progress- if anyone would like this, let me know. It would require a good deal more effort, so at the moment I probably won’t (but pictures are definitely fine). I’m already planning on sanding down the desk extension but I would like some input- should I paint it white to match the rest of the desk or leave it the wooden color? Painting it would also cover up the screws and make them less obvious.

At the moment all I need to do is wait for the makerspace to finish remodelling in the beginning of August so I can use their vinyl-cutter, buy and cut the acrylic pieces I need, and finish modelling and 3D printing the pieces at one of our local libraries that has a 3D printer for free use. Then I can put the build together and it’ll be done!
