HDMI drop help!

Misinthe

Hey everyone, so I just bought a new house and it has an HDMI drop, so what I can't figure out is how to plug different things to the TV (like Blu-ray player, cable box, Xbox, etc.) when I only have 1 cable going to the TV? Thanks for the help in advance!

Use a splitter ? Like 1 output (connected to the TV) and 4 inputs (connected to the devices). You can then choose which one to display at a given time.

HDMI switcher. Similar to the ones used by RCA devices back in the day.

Not a recommendation just to show you what Im talking about: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812423067&cm_re=HDMI_switcher-_-12-423-067-_-Product

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Alright I'll give that a try, thank you both for your answers.

As already stated, you need some sort of splitter/switch.

Most people go with the AVR-solution, that is buying a home theatre receiver which handles audio and the HDMI switching that you want. On the plus-side you can connect a couple of speakers to it and not have to listen to the microspeakers in your TV. With a reciver you just connect all your peripherals by HDMI, and then run one single HDMI to your TV. If you've got HDMI ARC (Audio return channel) in your TV, audio will also travel downstream from your TV to the receiver. This is nice if your for example use your TV's built in Netflix App or something similar.

Example of a home theater receiver: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/denon-avr-5-2-ch-4k-ultra-hd-and-3d-pass-through-a-v-home-theater-receiver-black/5756606.p?skuId=5756606

And some speakers: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/definitive-technology-procinema-600-5-1-channel-home-theater-speaker-system-black/8206201.p?skuId=8206201

So that has something to do with this, which I also have no idea what it is haha.

The house comes with some speakers on the ceiling in guessing for surround?
