Didn't see a post about this sort of thing so I thought I'd start one :)

Let's be honest folks, sometimes you just need to get something working and damn the consequences.

So while it may look horrific or silly or downright dangerous take a picture of your secret shame (or pride) of the time you had to put your "creative thinking" skills to use or of when you had to stop and say "Hm, what would Linus do?"

And me? I'm stuck between cases and waiting for RX580's to come back onto the market at "sane" prices, so I'm stuck using my old modded HD7950 which is to damn big to fit in the proper slot and needed extra support to stop it sagging. Lego to the rescue :D

Oh and the plastic is there because I can't put the HDD cage back into the computer (Video Card is to long) So now the HDD's sit outside with the plastic replacing the side panel to help keep dust out. Worked surprisingly well :)

I'd do something on Etsy about pins or stickers, but Linus would sue me out of existence :D

You could send him a free one as a peace offering. Or PM him ( @LinusTech), and see if he responds. He probs will.

oh god i've got a massive list of these

i was working on a computer for a lan party and it had a proprietary power supply and no 6 pins and it needed a gpu so i cut off the molexs and soldered it directly to the gpu.

at another lan party we needed another extra computer but same issue again no 6 pin this time since i was even shorter on time i jammed wire into a second psu to turn it on then wired that psu to the gpu so it was running 2 psus when you restarted it you had to turn it on in a certain order or it would fuck up.

i needed a portable case so i got a 3 inch binder and cut holes in it for the cpu holes then zip tied it in and then when transporting it i just had to talk off the gpu and cooler

i was working a on a eth mine for someone a few years ago and he wanted to add an extra gpu this was in normal tower case before gpu risers were good but there were already 2 3 slot gpus in the case so there wasn't enough slots of the back of the case so i secure it under it after routering the case and then used twine to support the gpu

thats all i can think of for now but there were a lot more that i cant remember atm

I wish I had a picture (not a PC mod), but ~12 years ago we used to place my friends PS2 on 2 piles of books on each side and then we'd put a fan upside down to cool it. It was the only thing that kept it from overheating. Worked like a charm. Damn exclusives.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.
