is the msi 1060 aero 6gb a good gpu for the htc vive and how does it stack up against other 1060's because the price is a bit lower?  Also, is overclocking really needed for VR with it and does overclocking shorten its lifespan?

no noise doesnt really  bother me.  i have a gtx 960 and it gets quite loud at times, im guessing it wont get close to as loud as that.

i wouldent recomend a 1060 for VR but its going to work. overclocking can shorten the lifespan of your GPU but by the time that gets noticed you will have wanted a replacement for a while(unless you are pushing it really hard with manual voltage running way out of spec)

whats wrong with the 1060 for vr? it has to be worlds better than my 960 and the 960 runs some games pretty well EX. super hot vr

Only difference between any card in any line up like a 1080 with EVGA, MSI, ASUS etc, is features, and software. The performance difference is so minimal that it comes down to what software you want, how many fans you want, how loud you want it. Besides that its really all more or less the same.
