So I ran the Oculus Rift compatibility test on my computer. Everything I know is powerful enough (i7, 16GB RAM), but I have a GTX 1050M. The website says the minimum GPU is a 1050 ti. Is this a glitch or do any of you 1050 and 1050M owners have the same results?

Well, what was the result of the compatibilty test? A GTX 1050m is much less powerful then a GTX 1050ti so it should not pass the test.

IMHO even a GTX 1050ti is too weak for optimal VR experiences...so your 1050M which is quite a bit slower than 1050ti is obviously way too low spec.

That shouldn't happen... Looking on the forums it seems that your result might be the first of it's kind, but it wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't happen more often.

My guess is it's just looking for certain dGPU codes and the gtx 1050m is being misread by the oculus software.

When I click under GPU it says 1050 so it knows it isn't a ti.

It's oculus, their goal is to make VR available to as many people as possible. BUT they are sacrificing quality to do it.

That's what I mean, there's a problem in the oculus software that is misreading a dGPU code or something of the like.

They wanted to "bring VR to as many people as possible before FB bought them. This isn't a result of the facebook acquisition. The STANDALONE headset though, I do think that is a move that facebook pushed them to do in some way.

Oculus is going to turn like every Facebook acquired company, a way to get personalized ads and to copy other companies to stay competitive.

Which is why we need to wait for later versions of VR HMDs.

yes the issue is that it means jack shit...it's like if you would take a test to see if your gaming PC is ''gaming ready''

...like...it depends what games you play and at what settings etc...it doesnt take too big a brain to understand that if you play a 3.99$ ping pong game that looks like a nintendo 64 game on your VR headset probably even a GTX 950 will do that at 90FPS...but if you play project cars on maximum settings you need something more along the lines of a GTX 980ti or GTX 1070 to get 90FPS...you know.
