Hi All, Im building a Cheap General PC for my Nieces, It will mainly be used for Web Browsing You tube and MS Office, and maybe the odd occasional light gaming.

I want to build them something that is snappy and not always lagging so to keep the Budget to a Minimum i was thinking a FM2 Socket AMD APU so no need to buy a GPU but have that little graphics Performance.

Found a Fairly Basic Motherboard from Gigabyte F2A78M-HD2 Which has everything i need it to do but not sure on Processor as i really need to keep the Price Down to minimum

Found a AMD APU A4 6300 Dual core at £32 Brand New but noticed it does not have Hyper Threading.

Basically can anyone recommend a APU withing this Price range.

I have a mATX case and PSU along with SSD and Hard drive

Thanks

There's no Hyperthreading (or SMT, since HT is a commercial name by Intel) in older AMD CPUs.

I would advice you to get a quad-core APU, even if on the cheaper side (like A8 lineup), since FM2 APUs are based on modules, like bulldozer, meaning every 2 cores share some resources. Having a quad core would ensure you get at least 2 fully independent cores, and then you have two more when needed (the iGPU also tends to be better on A8s and A10s, making it more likely to meet your needs for longer).

Of course, those are also more expensive, but it's de-stocking time for pre-Ryzen stuff, so keep an eye for discounts at PC components retailers, and/or consider the used market.

Get a celeron for that price tbh . AMD's value proposition under 50$ is just terrible .

Unless you already own an fm2 board...

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

I think the term "Hyperthreading" is an Intel trademark. AMD does have an equivalent, called Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT), but it's a new feature in their Ryzen CPUs. Older AMD CPUs don't have a feature like that. It's not something you desperately need in such a basic system, anyway.

i would suggest last generation i3 processor with the cheapest intel motherboard that supports it, and OC the snot out of it.

OC is not a Option as it is not going to be my personal system so dont want stability issues
