DAC/internal soundcard

Hello everyone,

 

Im searching for a new DAC or internal soundcard for around 150-200. Right now i could get an Asus Essence stx II for 120. I prefer a bit more bass and used my old one 90% music, 10% gaming.

It must be capable to run 600Ω headphones.

My pc has a spdif out and pcie only.

Used dacs are also ok (like arcam rDac) and if they are worth its money they can also be higher priced.

Can anyone recommend a dac/soundcard or should i get the stx II ?

why not get the schiit stack? the magni 2 and modi 2 go well together.

Yeah thats what I would have suggested as well - 600 Ohms probably means that you would need some type of an amp to properly power headphones and the Schiit Stack is a real solid combo for entry into DAC and amps. My gut instinct is to also avoid sound cards as it is limited to just your computer and they can pose some software concerns as well. The added flexibility of DAC/Amp is much more appealing IMO
