Well...

A) 7700k is not a huge upgrade over 3770, IMO not worth the investment.

B) Even if it was a worthwhile upgrade you will need new RAM and mobo with the 7700k.

It depends on what you want to do ie Sli/Crossfire, More Productivity, Streaming etc but I'd say no for gaming and even light workloads.

Whilst not being an annoying "You should get Ryzen - all intel is terrible" kind of post - I would want to say that you would need a new Mobo + Ram set to upgrade to 7700k - if you were willing to upgrade those things then you might as well go for Ryzen as you can get more threads even with a Ryzen 5 1600 - and that would be cheaper - even including the cost of a B350 mobo and possibly some Ram - than the 7700k only. Add in a Z270 motherboard and the intel platform would cost way more. Intel platform also has no upgrade path - whereas Ryzen 5 1600/7 1700 can still be upgraded on the same motherboard.

If you strictly game and do nothing else including streaming then i'd say you would see an improvement from your current CPU is that a non K 3770 if so then YES for sure you will see a decent upgrade.

If however you have the K version and have it OC to 4.5-4.7Ghz then perhaps when it comes to pure gaming you won't see a massive return for your money spent.

Now lets say you do more then gaming like encoding videos or doing production work or gaming+streaming while having even more things in the background. Then Ryzen will be your best bet.

If again you have that CPU OC perhaps just buy a SSD but don't put more money into the platform that you can't switch over to a newer platform in a few years that would be a waste.
