Is it worth upgrading?

I currently cant build a system but can i get this one upgraded?

This is what i have:

CPU
    Intel Core i3 3220 @ 3.30GHz    26 °C
    Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology
RAM
    4.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)
Motherboard
    ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. BM6820_BM6620_BP6320-8 (LGA1155)    28 °C
Graphics
    Acer P215H (1920x1080@60Hz)
Intel HD Graphics (ASUStek Computer Inc)
Storage
465GB Seagate ST500DM002-1BD142 ATA Device (SATA)

for upgrading the GPU, is there a slim one that can fit?

I also have an old case, can i put it in there to upgrade the power and GPU?

Thanks,

Bullet

what kind of things are you wanting to do? I would upgrade ram first then if you wanting to game get a video card everything else looks ok. A ssd would help to speed things up a lot also if it was within budget.

You could grab an i5 3470/3570, and another stick of ram for dual channel. For a slim graphics card, the 1050ti seems the best option.

Main Rig Specs:

CPU - I5-2500k 3.4 - 4.0 GHz

MOBO - ASUS PBZ77-V LK

RAM - 8GB DDR3 GSKill Ripjaws

GPU - GTX 780ti

PSU - 600B PSU EVGA

Case - Bitfenix Merc Beta

Cooler - Be Quiet! Pure Rock Slim

jks, if you can get a 47** that would be a good way to go, get a SSD and some more RAM, you should be sitting pretty there.

Those are LGA 1150 CPUs, his mobo is LGA 1155. At that point he'd almost be buying a whole new system.

I'd recommend:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3470 @ 3.20GHz (Cheap, will fit in your motherboard, and much better than your current CPU)

GPU: eVGA GTX 1050 Ti 4GB ACX 2.0 (Should fit in a small case easily, good bang for your buck)

SSD: SanDisk SSD PLUS 240GB 2.5" (SSDs make boot time and program loading time unbelievably faster. Almost a necessity these days)

RAM: Patriot Viper 3 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3-1600 (Most prebuilt DDR3 systems did only use 1x 4GB stick of RAM, so there's a good chance OP could just buy another 4GB stick, but I'm not sure about compatibility with speeds, as his is at 800MHz)

slight problem, the distence from the mobo pciex16 slot to the case, 2.75in (or 70 mm) the 1050 TI is 4.38in.

This is 2.72

Also i can't fine any 1050Ti's cheaper then that for your case but you could always get a 1050 instead slower yes but still enough for you to do what you want.

1050

That slim pc you have can fit a gtx 1050/1050ti, or gt 1030, so long as you get the low profile version.  It comes with a special bracket for slim cases.

Video card should be your first upgrade, and honestly, you can ride on that for a bit.

I bought a Dell Optiplex 7010 with an i3 3220 and slapped an MSI 1050ti low-profile gpu in it.  Runs everything fine, so long as you manage your expectations.

Beyond that, another 4 GB ram, and an i5-3470 would be great upgrades.

Well, the newest game that is played on the machine is probably Gears of War 4, on Ultra around 35-40fps, on high 50-55fps.

Also, what's that gray ribbon cable in the middle?  Serial? I'm sure you could remove that guy if you need the space...

Last note, that Athlon 250 setup you have... it's going to choke on modern titles.  My wife was using one up until 2014 or so, but when she shifted away from L4D2 to playing Fallout 4 and Tomb Raider, we moved to the i3 system.

yea the ribbon is not used, i ordered the MSI GTX 1050 TI low profile. I'm going to get a different CPU too. what is the best i could slap in here? would i need a better heat sync?

I'm looking at 7 days to die, borderlands prequel, BF4, maybe arma 3 (in the future if i get it running okay) and war thunder.

Personally, I'd just see how that runs first with the i3.  You can go up to i7-3770 with that, but the i5-3470 would pair better with your GPU.

Extra 4 GB ram would help too.

Also- I'm not sure on the heatsink, since I'm not positive what the stock one is rated for.  The i5/i7 is higher wattage, so it may need something beefier. If all else fails, try it out and watch your temps.

I'm thinking on getting a Intel® Xeon® Processor E3-1270 v2, its refurbished (anything wrong with getting refurbished?)

also, its 69w, would you think I'd have heat problems?
