$1000 Xeon better that i5?

So im going to see speeds and frame rates drop

You will see drops, but the amount at which that happens will depend on how cpu bound the game is.

Battlefield, and Skyrim are my main games and they dont hit it constantly. I see 50-80% usage

Dam, i kinda just wanted it because it was so cheap. So not something u would recommend staying with for a little while. However i could sell my i5 and mobo, get that cpu and mobo then sell the cpu and get a ivybride-e cpu couldnt i. I could at least sell it for like $350-400 right?

Looking at sold ebay listings, they sold anywhere from $450 to $900.

I do also do alot of multitasking, i have like 20 tabs open on a regular day. I would also start folding again i just need to know if i get that CPU would it be a good investment in the long run. To resell after a couple months or something. My school might even buy it from me.

It sounds like you really want it, in that case i cant really blame you and go right ahead. I just think that it will not benefit you very much as a cpu and that you can do your build a lot more good with the money you make selling it.

Okay so would it be better to just get the CPU and resell or get a P9X79 and get a IvyBridge-E CPU after this one sells

A definant drop. But we won't know an exact number. So many variables.

No, your a bluebird, not a mocking jay, jk, i just have that erg to buy it and if its going to drop me from 50-60FPS in BF3 to 35-45FPS i won't get it so i guess im saying. Its a good mobo, good server cpu and i have a good overclocked MSI 660 TI so if u think it will most likely drop that much this will be my last question and ill leave u to do better things

It's honestly better to have the i5 overall. It's still a good editing CPU. Better to save up and eat dinner someplace

That pun tho
