Hello everyone

I just moved to Spain, Alicante, next to the beach, where I will be working from home. I would like to set up my office in my bedroom. I plan on buying everything in the next few weeks when VEGA comes out ... For now, I only have one desk, a chair and a bed. I would like to know your opinion on the decisions I am about to make. I also should let you know that I have never built a PC before and that I prefer performance over form.

I want a PC for work, hobby and gaming.

Work: I work for a startup company that makes Application Specific Integrated Circuits. We use quite intensive programs. I also write code using IDE’s such as Visual Studio. Most of the time I have to multitask and have plenty of programs and windows opened simultaneously.

Hooby: Apart from watching shows and gaming I also plan on making small games on my free time. That means running Unity3D, UE4, Maya, Blender, Adobe suite, Visual studio, ect…

Gaming: I haven’t played much on PC because my laptop was not strong enough but I do plan doing so with this build. I am not into FPS games. I’m more into 3rd person fantasy RPG games or action/platform games. I rarely play online games (maybe LOL or FFXIV) and definitely not at a competitive level. I plan on gaming on a TV instead of a monitor.

My budget: not over 5000euros

PC: +-2000€

Monitors: +-1000€

UHD TV: +-1500€

others: +-500€

I would like the finished set up to look something like this (I made it, using SketchUp):Sideview.PNG.6adeafd11ac382ccc84906308e8152ca.PNG

 topview.PNG.972b972002da6851229eeec66568110b.PNG

The room is square 3x3m (10x10ft). Currently I only have the white desk, the sofa/bed and the chair. I need to buy everything else. The bed is surrounded by windows and at the bottom wall (on the second picture) is covered with a wardrobe. I cannot wall mount the TV because the wall is too thin. Let me now if you have any improvement ideas on the deposition of furniture and displays.

Now for the tech stuff. In Spain, all electronics are about 20% more expansive than in the US. And some components cannot be found here. I can get them shipped, but that might not be worth it.

PC Builds

My current plan build:

CPU:                Ryzen 7 1700                                        -330€-

GPU:                VEGA   (the mid or best one)                -750€??-

MotherBoard:   Gigabyte AX370-Gaming K5                -170€- Compatible with 3200Mhz ram

Cooling:           Noctua NH-D15                                     -90€-

SSD:                Samsung 960 EVO 500GB NVMe        -250€-

HDD:                1TB x2                                                  -100€-

RAM:               G.Skill 32GB DDR4-3200 32GB           -300€-

Power:             EVGA 650 GQ 650W                           -100€-

Case:               Nox NXHUMMERZSZ                          -50€- I like windowed but anything cool is fine

Total:   2140€ + shipping costs

Displays

I would like two 27inch monitors. I want monitors with mobility to rotate in portrait mode when necessary. I want my monitors to be:

- 27inch

- IPS or VA

- <10ms response time

- 1440p

- 60Hz or higher refresh rate

- >95% srgb

I could have two different monitors. One, with these specs, as my secondary monitor and a main monitor with the same specs but with the addition of freesync and a higher refresh rate. I’m probably going to play most of my games on the TV instead of the monitor tough, except if mouse and keyboard are needed.

The monitors I’m looking at are:

BenQ BL2420PT                     -250€- (23.8" but very good price)

BenQ GW2765HT                   -330€-

BenQ PD2700Q                       -380€-

Acer XF270HU                         -630€-

Dell UltraSharp U2715H           -460€-

I’m currently thinking of getting two BenQ PD2700Q because of the image quality, but it is more than a 100€ more than the 24’’ BenQ so I am not sure if it is worth that much.

Total: 760€

TV

I want a 4K hdr tv because I play a lot on my ps4 pro and pc games are starting to get hdr content. I want something with nice colors for when I watch movies, series, anime and play games. I’m also getting a switch so I want a good quality image for sdr content and a good upscaling.

I am struggling to choose between tvs.

1400€ SONY 49’’ XE9005:

I used the Sony XD8005 during 6 months and I was pretty happy except the motion blur was a bit bad and the android OS would do weird things sometimes. But I think I’d be happy with this better version.

1200€ SAMSUNG 49’’ KS8000 (refurbished):

It’s a nice TV, probably one of the best models that came out in 2016.

1900€  LG OLED 55’’ C6:

It’s oled enough said. It’s also curved and has 3d (which I don’t really care about)

1800€  SAMSUNG 49’’ Q7F + free 40’’ 4k smart TV:

QLED it’s good but not as good as OLED. It has more color depth and brighter image (in hdr) but blacks are not as good and sdr content in general is not as good. But until the 30th of July there’s a special deal where the Q7F comes with a free 40’’ 4k smart TV the 40UM6105 worth 500€. I could use that second tv in the living room since it’s small.

What do you think, is oled really that much better than QLED?

I am leaning more towards the SAMSUNG KS8000 but the fact that it is refurbished is a bit of a down side and I might also miss the deal if I wait to long. If I miss the KS8000, I’ll get the Sony XE9005.

Total: 1200€

Others

No need for anything fancy, I might just use my current 10€ mouse and keyboard for now. Do you recommend buying speakers, depending on the monitor/TV I get?

TV furniture:            it must be done on measure           -200€-

Ethernet AC + switch: Better than WIFI especially with all the interference here -100€-

Total: 300€

Complete set up Total: 4400€

Final thoughts

Finding PC components in Spain is hard I may need to get international delivery for some component.

Here are a few sites I found for Hardware in Spain (I'm mainly gonna use amazon.es):

http://www.coolmod.com/

http://www.izarmicro.net/

http://www.pccomponentes.com/

http://www.tacnet.es

https://www.amazon.es/

Thank you for reading through my post I’m really excited to get this done.

Please let me know what you think of the components and the setup. I hope to hear from you soon :)

Before I send anything: Please don't use colored text, Everyone in dark mode can't see anything. Use plain colored text and the forum will switch it to white so us in dark mode can read it.

I'll be back in a few with some suggestions. Though I can already say with that budget you could probably swing an OLED TV, GTX 1080 + i7, and 144hz easily if that's what you want.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/
