I can't comment on why B-die works better, but I can say with certainty that Hynix is getting a lot better now that AGESA 1.0.0.6 is out.

I used to be unable to boot any higher than 2400 MHz with my dual-rank Hynix memory from G.Skill, but after the latest BIOS update containing AGESA 1.0.0.6 I'm rock solid at 3066 MHz. The memory itself is rated at 3200, but I'm unstable at that speed (blue screens and various types of corruption abound). No issues with performance or Windows/games crashing at 3066, though. I'm using stock timings and voltage. (That said, upping voltage didn't help get 3200 stable).

Current Build:

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X3D

GPU: RTX 3080 Ti FE

RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z CL16 3200 MHz

Mobo: Asus Tuf X570 Plus Wifi

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X53

PSU: EVGA G6 Supernova 850

Case: NZXT S340 Elite

Current Laptop:

Model: Asus ROG Zephyrus G14

CPU: Ryzen 9 5900HS

GPU: RTX 3060

RAM: 16GB @3200 MHz

Old PC:

CPU: Intel i7 8700K @4.9 GHz/1.315v

RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z CL16 3200 MHz

Mobo: Asus Prime Z370-A

My memory is rated at 2666 and I can only get it to run a 2666 (after endless timing combos)

Are you on the latest BIOS for your board, and does that BIOS contain AMD's newest AGESA? Also if you're hitting rated speeds, then I wouldn't complain. Having to adjust timings to do it seems a little odd, though, especially if you're on 1.0.0.6.

Am on latest AGESA and I'm not complaining it was just annoying considerring how many combos I had to try

Check and see if your memory is on your mobo's QVL. If it isn't on there then Asrock didn't test it for compatibility.

Or you just got super unlucky. Hard to tell.

You've got to match exact serial numbers to know for sure. But yeah, I'd be happy finally getting it to run at the speeds you paid for. I'm still 134 MHz away, but I'm not so masochistic as to keep rebooting and trying for that 1% more performance. Lol.

When Asus updates again, I'll try again.

Plus once I get the other 2 dimms I'll only be able to get 2666 anyways.
