Parting out a computer for a friend. This computer will be used only for web browsing, youtube, and basic schoolwork. Opinions? Anything I should edit?

Trying to keep the cost low. Windows will be provided.

An i5 is awfully powerful for the work described. Consider an i3.

I'd suggest memory with better timings.

Consider going with a ~500GB ssd instead of a small ssd for the o/s and an hdd for everything else. Unless the user collects movies, 500GB should be more than enough. The overall performance improvement will be noticeable.

You might consider a different case and psu.

I would suggest getting a monitor with speakers. Makes for a tidier setup.

I still may want to include a hard drive, just for mass storage. He will also be using this PC to backup his iPhone and such. So there's 100GB wasted.

In that case, I would recomend a Seagate Barracuda 3TB HDD. It offers great value and performance. If that's a little expensive, then go with the 1TB version of the drive.

Well, having that the case he wants does not have 3.5" HDD support, (unless i mod the GPU area) I think a 1TB Hitachi is plenty

G4620 or I3-7100?

Also, He wants the Node 202 so it can be similar in size to his xbox. I know the Nano S is small, but the HTPC form factor is what he is looking for.

The i3-7100 is a little faster and more powerful, supports optane memory and a few more specialized instructions. But the G4620 would be ok if reducing cost is more important.

If he is set on the Node 202 I guess that's the case he gets :)

I think that would be the best config then.
