I have been getting random shutdowns on one of my systems lately.  I thought it might be a faulty video card since it happen only under heavy gaming load.  With this in mind I replaced the 980 Ti with a 1080Ti.  However the issue is still ongoing.

When it happens the system will simply shut down and I can power it right back on.  Temps are always well within norms.

Specs:

Maximus IX Hero

i5 6600K overclocked to 4.6 at 1.325 volts

EVGA 1080ti FTW3

Samsung 960 Evo Boot drive and 2 Addditional SSD storage drives.

PCIE Wifi card.

EVGA Supernova 550 Gold Rated PSU.  At this point I really think the PSU may be the culprit.  I figured it was providing enough power but now I am wondering if I am just pushing the system too hard.

Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly; the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly.

1080 Tis don't use *that* much more power than 980 TIs and no 1080 Ti system with a CPU that barely demands 100W on its own is going to harm a 550W PSU. Your PSU is not the culprit unless it is getting too hot in which case it should automatically restart itself.

If you put the 980 Ti back in does everything work just fine?

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Nope. Happens with both the 1080 ti and 980 ti cards but not with the 1080 I tested. Going to do some more testing later. May grab another psu from a different system and see.
