Which CPU should I use?

I currently have an i7-6700K in my build, it does the job for me to stream, record and play games at "Ultra" settings for GTA V at 144 fps (above) (I have a 144Hz monitor and I don't want my god to go under it). I am planning to change the CPU to either i5-7600K or i7-7700K, but I want my game to be at least 144fps at ultra settings while streaming and recording at 60fps.

Current build excl. the CPU:

GTX 1060

16GB RAM

The 7700k is more or less a 6700k with better on board graphics so don't bother. Keep what you have.

I would wait for new generation of cpus to come out, because 6700k is still high end cpu from intel.

If you want higher FPS your current CPU isn't what's bottlenecking you.

If you want to squeeze out more performance I'd recommend a beefier GPU!

The CPU configuration is alright, just get a crispier Video Card if you want more performance

Seriously you can reach 144fps ultra with a gtx 1060?

IMHO you won't see any performance increases by going to a 7700k. You can get equivalent performance if you just overclock your 6700k to 4.5Ghz. Obviously you can get better OC headroom with the 7700k but that would not be worth the $$ spent.

As others have already mentioned, you will be a lot better off with a better GPU like a 1080 or higher. You failed to mention the resolution at which you are gaming at too but since you have a 1060 then a lot of people will assume you are gaming at 1080p. In that case a 1070 or a 1080 would be perfect for 1080p 144hz gaming.

If you really feel a lot of stuttering while streaming then you might consider getting something like the Ryzen 7 with more cores better able at handling both gaming and streaming at the same time.

I believe LTT already released a video covering this, comparing the different CPU's with this kind of workload.
