Basically I need to replace a really cheap and terrible 802.11 (yep, doesn't even support n...) router.

Requirements:

- Preferably has ac but isn't that important? (when literally the only hardware that will utilise it is my laptop only -out of 5 other computers- and a couple of phones, or a single phone when I'm not on holiday here).

- Is able to punch through 4 brick walls and 15m (ish) however if unable, will go back onto my original plan of a new router and powerline with wifi in my room (yep, this is quite a large apartment xD)

Actually that's it, in a nutshell, best range possible at that price and preferable to have ac however if it means worse 2.4GHz range then no ac is fine.

Thanks guys :D

On a side note, if there is something that's much much better at something like sub $100 then feel free to recommend as I'm sure that I can persuade my mother.

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Whatever you can get for that kind of money isn't much better than the router you get from your ISP, so not worth spending the money on in my opinion.

Sounds like you have a rather old one. I would contact your ISP's customer support and claim you're not getting a usable signal or the speed you're paying for, or something like that. Just spin it so that they'll replace your old router with their latest model, just make it seem like the router is at fault and usually that's their solution anyways.#

At least that should give you 802.11n, maybe even 802.11ac depending on your provider.

Does you mum know you're here?

Ermmm...thing is, I'm not in Scotland right now...more like somewhere 6000 miles away :P (so its not gonna work).

Frankly probably even a generic ac router would have better range (on the 5GHz network) than the piece of shite we have xD
