Watercooling temps weird HELP!

Go to solution Solved by DarthSmartt,

I got it. the temps are now fine after re-applying the thermal goulash and letting the thermal goo set for 12 hrs with the system running.

I run an intel core i7 6700k overclocked to 4.48ghz with a corsair h110i. for some reason i was getting temps up in the 90s and even thermal throttling with the fans at almost full speed(sounds like a jet engine) and the pump supposedly at full speed. any ideas?

also would using too much thermal compound have anything to do with this because i globbed on a pretty big glob.

Build:

Evga gtx 1080 superclocked

250GB Samsung 850 evo

2tb WD Black 7200rpm

Ek watercooling kit a240g with 360 expansion pack

Primochill Vue Red fluid

Corsair Graphite 600t (white)

Try this.

Remove the CPU cooler

Clean off both the cooler and CPU with alcohol.

Re-apply a good amount a small pea, or bead.

Then put it back on and try your temps again.

Ok. I’ll try this when I get up. 1 am here. I’ll do it on carpet because the internet says I can’t.

You shouldn't do anything on a carpet lmao. Do it on a solid floor surface. Hardwood, Tile, fake tile. You will risk killing your motherboard, ram, and maybe cpu.

If the steps I told you above don't work then you might have to pop off the heat spreader on the skylake and reapply paste from there. Linus did this a while ago saying don't do this cause you can risk loosing the CPU. I have done this a good 6-8 times with peoples computers that I have built for them.

Ok I’ve done everything but delid the cpu. I also did it on carpet nothing happened(as usual). I’m still getting temps of 30c idle(not bad there) but I’m getting 80-85c. I’ve even removed my overclock. I don’t want to delid my CPU because I’m only 13 and got the cpu as a Christmas gift and probobly won’t be getting a new one anytime soon. I’m pretty sure the h110i is at fault. do you know of any way to check the fluid level? (I should probobly google this before asking.)

I didn't know how to check the fluid level. I did Google this cause I did not know. I found nothing on checking it. Take out the h110 and with the tubes move it at different angles and if you hear a decent amount of liquid move then it should be fine. Are the fans on the radiator working? Also is it a 2 fan radiator or 1.

I will help you fix this. Cause these temps are concerning. But you can go at your usual gaming. If temps rise so much the TJ Max will throttle the CPU.

-Check/Clean/Reapply a high quality paste
-Check to make sure the block is seated properly
-Check to make sure pump isn't making strange sounds
-Check to make sure hoses aren't bent/kinked

-Reset BIOS to factory settings so there is no overclock and try benching the system stock
