FPS Drops with gaming pc

I keep getting fps drops in csgo and my temps are fine and I have a good pc so I have no idea what is causing it. Let me know if you can help

PC:

GPU: MSI Gtx 960 2gb

CPU: i5 4460 3.2ghz

RAM:1 stick of 8gb ddr3

PSU: Corsair 430w

HDD: Western blue 1tb

MOBO: Asus b58m-g r2.0

you can try nvidia inspector, I don't have the ltt rules memorized so I am not gonna link it but you should google, download then set the profile to cs go by clicking a nvidia logo near the gpu specs, apply changes and ok.

I have already tried that before and it didn't help

If you have tried that I'll also assume you tried launching with nomate cleaning decals twice a round, making sure no bg processes and putting priority to high (although affects are minimal)?

I made sure no bg processes were running but I'm not sure if there is a windows process or service that could cause fps drops. I have already cleaned it and tried high priority

What's your usage for CPU/GPU/RAM/pagefile while in-game?

Well my cpu is around 70-80% and my gpu is around 40-50ish. I haven't checked ram and pagefile though.

You should check per-core usage, RAM/page file, temps, and GPU usage and temps.

 

If you're only using a core or two fully, you'll need to enable multi-core utilization at the command line.

Ok I will give it a shot, but I should mention that is definitely not the game itself causing them because I have drops in other games also just so we could rule that possibility out

If it's a bunch of games, just do the same with a variety of them. 

 

Keep note of the usage throughout your play-time (10 minutes should suffice) as you move through areas and events. Keep good notes on each program and what the usages were like [when normal and how they changed] when you dropped frames.

Preferably? Zero... that is to say as close to zero usage as possible (whatever your OS recommends as minimum). If you're seeing your RAM's usage increase, the pagefile should increase to compensate for whatever is taken up. If your RAM isn't going up, but your pagefile is growing, you need to lower the max pagefile size.

I'm still working on finding the drops, but randomly some of my cores will just go to 100% but I don't notice an fps drop when they do

Just make [sure] you keep an eye on the usages. Spend a second or two in a congested area, check the usage, move around and see where the drops occur.

So when I find out for sure what is causing it, would there be any way to fix it without buying new parts?

Depends on if the issue is software or hardware related.

I don't think that is normal. The really low points were from when I was alt tabbing btw

Are you relying on the Afterburner graphs or the OSD? I'd use the OSD as it allows you to see the usage while in-game.

I am pretty sure that when the fps drops occur my cpu core usages are getting higher and my gpu usage gets lower

If we're talking about CS:GO, is your multi-core allowing as many threads as possible?

I don't play CS:GO, so my knowledge of the game is just based on the Source engine and how it uses what is given to it. 

 

This guide should have all of the command line tweaks for better Hz.

PUBG is still in Early Access, so I wouldn't worry too much about that one.
