Internet speeds are not correct!

Hello

 

In my area we get internet using an antenna. I pay for 5 Mbps download and around 2-3 Mbps for upload. If i do a speedtest (using ethernet) the results are: around 2 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. 

How can i solve this.

Lol if the promotional pamphlet said "Up To" technically, its not a mistake

Verify that there are no bottlenecks on your end first like your PC, Router, or WiFi, then contact your ISP.

I am a tier 3 at an ISP. Dont contact your ISP first because you will just be on hold and we would just walk you through the steps below. Simple troubleshooting helps us out greatly and unless its DSL, 99% of the time its not your ISPs equipment.

 

I see this commonly. Check your router for bandwidth stats as there is a big chance something is using up the bandwidth (if your router is capable, if not check packets in and out to get an estimate) and check every device that has a lease in the router. If it still persist connect one one device and run a speed test.

 

Common issues, direct TV with internet connection, streaming devices such as Roku or Chromecast that are on but the user forgot because they switched inputs, less common, PCs running updates.

 

If you still need assistance is the connection fiber or dsl (I manage both)? Cable I cant help with.

First of all, whos your internet provider and what kind of internet do they provide? Cable, DSL, Fiber, Satellite, LTE or WISP.
