Question about torrents

So I was wondering sometimes when I DL torrents it's stuck to connecting to peers although before DL the torrent it shows X amount of seeders. Shouldn't it connect and download? Doesn't happen to all torrents.

Sometimes the torrent tracker doesn't keep the most up to date information on the torrent, so while once it thought the torrent had seeds or leechers, it didn't check recently and the information is now incorrect.

So the torrent is dead?

Well, you may want to let it sit and 'cook' for some time, even a few days and see what happens.  I have certainly seen 'old torrents' that had what I'd call 'periodic seeds', where only a few hours per day would a seeder magically appear for some reason or another.  That said, if a seed doesn't appear, then there's no seeds.
